ABOUT US STOPPING ECONOMIC INEQUALITY

Todays99Percent focuses on the root cause of economic inequality … where the richest 1% in the US uses their financial clout to lobby Congress and change laws in their favor. This dynamic will continue to kill us until it is changed.

Regardless of the thousands of organizations working to stop issues related to economic inequality – such as climate change, poverty, drug addiction, alcoholism, and women’s health (just to mention a few) – the Gini coefficient, an indicator of economic inequality, continues to rise year after year. As background, in 2011, during the Occupy Wall Street movement, the Gini Coefficient was 0.475. At last calculation, where just small changes in the coefficient number have huge impacts, the US Census Bureau stated this 2020, it had dramatically increased to 0.484 and is the highest it has been in 50 years.

The answer is clear: these organizations do not attack the root cause of economic inequality at a subconscious level where it is perceived and ranked, let alone change the redistribution of wealth.

Most of these organizations operate on changing social values. Social values are those that an individual cares about in society and are judged to make the world a better place for them in which they live. These take place where we think at a conscious level.

For example, individuals have social values regarding environmental benefits. These include the reduction of carbon emissions, the restoration of natural environments, and maintaining biodiversity. But regardless of how many whales we save, it does not change economic inequality.

Supporting these organizations with your time and money is futile for stopping economic inequality. This seems counterintuitive because we feel good volunteering our time and donating funds, and because we believe these organizations are stopping economic inequality. In truth, the way to stop economic inequality is through wealth redistribution. We believe this means going head-to-head against the 1% financially by lobbying Congress to change the tax laws in our favor to redistribute the wealth to the 99%.

Do not let the wool be pulled over your eyes; this is the state of economic inequality today. The real way to stop increasing economic inequality is to fight fire with fire. We need to out finance the 1% at their own game, to beat them with our own lobbying to assure Congress writes laws in our favor. In truth, our analysis, as is shown in our ABOUT section, #8, shows that we as a group have the revenue to accomplish this.

We invite you to join us in our revolution to stop economic inequality by attacking it at its source. By subscribing to our platform, we will secure funds to lobby Congress to benefit us and stop the economic inequality that is destroying our lives. Our ABOUT section, #5, lists twenty ways based upon the research that economic inequality is literally destroying us. After reviewing this section, one can see how stopping economic inequality will improve the quality of our lives and, many times, even save our lives.

Our wellbeing, and that of generations to come, hangs in the balance.

With so much at stake, please join us in our revolution to stop economic inequality. Not doing so means economic inequality will continue to rise and persist long into the future with deadly consequences.
