Together, we will hire our own lobbying firm in Washington to counter the wealth of the 1% and change Congressional laws in favor of the 99% to increase our wealth. Redistributing wealth more equally between us and the 1% will reduce economic inequality (this process is explained in greater detail in the section below).  We believe one of the best ways to put more wealth into the hands of the 99% is by changing the tax codes.

We will explore and implement special projects to reduce economic inequality if they prove to be workable.

TO UNDERSTAND HOW OUR PLATFORM WORKS, ONE NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND OUR MODEL OF HOW ECONOMIC INEQUALITY OPERATES AND WHY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS CANNOT STOP IT.

The greater the economic inequality that exists within a nation, the greater the gradient between the rich and the poor that exists; it is this gradient that causes the toxic damage of economic inequality. An individual´s perceived ranking of where they stand in a socioeconomic hierarchy is important. Notably, this ranking process takes place at a subconscious level, not where we “think.”

Todays99Percent focuses on the root cause of economic inequality … where the richest 1% in the US use their financial clout to lobby Congress and change laws in their favor. This dynamic will continue to kill us until it is changed.

All revolutions need financing to be successful and we are no exception. A small amount of this money will be used to run our organization, but the greater share will be used to counter the lobbying of Congress by the 1% . In this way, we can redistributed more wealth to those of us in the 99% to stop economic inequality. To be frank, we need this funding to be successful, for without it, the 99% will continue to stay in control, keeping economic inequality at dangerously high levels.

VIP Members can participate in all aspects of our site including writing in our Forum Topic discussions, our Polls (which includes voting privileges regarding community matters and the direction our platform takes), and Messaging to other members. These individuals are the tip of the spear of our revolution; we honor their devotion and service to stopping economic inequality, holding them in high esteem.

Free Members have the same privileges as that of VIP Members, including posting in our forum topics, but with one significant exception; they can only read our Polls but cannot participate in them. Hence, they have no voting rights when it comes to community matters and setting the direction our platform takes.

The hard truth with all social movements is that just sitting on the sidelines is not sufficient to make an impactful change. We hope these individuals with Free Memberships will come to understand the importance of their financial support to actually counter the lobbying by the 1% and eventually change their Free Subscriptions to become paid VIP Subscription Members.
