The work we conduct is serious, very serious. Climate change, drug addiction, teenage pregnancy, prison recidivism rates, alcoholism, infant mortality, and a litany of other disorders affecting our society are directly related to Economic Inequality. The science and the statistics linking these afflictions to Economic Inequality are sobering. The single most important thing you can do for yourself and the world is to fight against this inequality. Your future and your children’s future will all depend upon the outcome of this battle. Make no mistake as to the gravity of the work we are conducting; we are fighting for our lives in a very real sense.

One has merely only to examine the longevity studies of the rich versus the poor in this country to ascertain how much longer the 1% live than the 99%. Our very lives are at stake. Yet, while we fight, we must remember that fun, and its associated elements of light-heartedness, cheer, delight, and wonderment are all a part of our humanity and help us in our time of need. Go ahead and have some fun with witty, joyous, mirthful, and creative solutions that will help us in this fight. Please be mindful and respectful of others about you as you express your thoughts and ideas. Remember, other members may have a different tolerance to the displayed subject material than you do. Our site is focused on a large, general audience, and offensive material is not allowed.

By definition, the 99% encompasses a lot of people. Each individual, however, has a unique style, personality, and special way of being. Not everyone on our site will think the same way or have the same solutions to our common problem, but they are all due their say and our respect. Our rules are in place to ensure this happens.

An aggressive attitude and tone will not be tolerated, as it is counterproductive. Remember, although “the empty vessel makes the most noise,” it is still empty. Those around you will understand this, even if you do not. Ours is a discussion site with a common goal in mind, not a dogfight for ego or ideological supremacy. By discussion, we mean the asking and answering of questions or a dialog on a topic. Our common welfare is at stake and is not dependent upon any one individual regardless of who that person may be. 4. Keep It Focused About Economic Inequality & How We Can Stop The 1% From Creating It.
Economic Inequality is a vast subject generally encompassing both the sub-topics of Wealth Inequality and Income Inequality. This material is the focus of our forum. In order to stop it, and by that, we mean to reduce it to tolerable levels as defined by those of us who make up the 99%, we need to remain focused on this issue. The great majority of our topics will inherently be specific to these matters that keep us centered on our core mission. Incidental and tangential material is acceptable as long as it relates to the essence of the Economic Inequality discussion or makes a point regarding it. For those reasons, we ask members to stay on course with the intentions of our forum. From time to time, our Moderators will bring discussions back on track, merge topics, or end discussions, allowing us to move forward in new and more productive directions.

5. Post In The Most Relevant Forum
Be sure to read the forum description before you post. Make yourself familiar with any limits on what may or may not be allowed on the forum. Although members may be passionate about a subject, they must handle it professionally. A pattern of merely copying material from one topic to multiple topics, cross-posting (especially as it relates to topics not really related to your material, in an attempt to promote your own ideas) will incur a Moderator’s response.

6. Keep It Clean
Members are reminded this board is aimed at a general audience where the common denominator is primary. The posting of pornographic or generally offensive text, jokes, images, etc., either directly or through links, will not be tolerated. Just because you think the material is funny or socially acceptable does not mean others hold the same position; please consider the views of others before you post.

6.2.3 ENFORCEMENT OF OUR RULES

1. Not every reported post you dislike or disagree with will be judged a violation of the rules. We do, however, track the posts made by a user for a possible pattern of behavior that over time might be violating our rules.

2. Our administrators, Moderators, and other team support personnel reserve the right to edit, remove, or place on hold any post or any portion of any post at any time for any reason they deem required in order to maintain compliance with our rules. Additionally, they can add amendments, explanations, cautions, and notices to any post at their discretion.

The reviewing, editing, restriction, and removal of this material is a manual process so please, be patient and allow us a reasonable amount of time to accomplish these tasks. Only the members of our enforcement team will determine what is construed as rude, indecent, inappropriate, off-topic, pornographic, or obscene. Furthermore, they will have complete authority as to matters of spam, fake news, and trolls. It is our team members who make these decisions, not the author of the post or the readers of the post.

3. Moderators on the site will have the sole discretion to ban or deactivate members from the site for various lengths of time. They can also delete a member from the site.  *However, for the protection of our community, Moderators reserve the right to ban any member immediately and on a permanent basis if the violation is deemed to be egregious in nature or injures, in any manner, to a given member or our community as a whole.

Individuals contacting any Moderator or other team member personally on a public post as well as those who post rude, indecent, or offensive material about them, or make any form of threat against our staff, either directly or indirectly, will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly. If there is an issue, use our PM to contact the staff. As long as you bring up your issues in a mature and civil manner, our staff will respond in kind. Finally, we will not respond to rude or harassing messages.

5. Users who feel their warnings are unjust are welcome to contact the Moderator to discuss the issue. If warranted, the Moderator will remove the warning at their sole discretion. The Moderator is the referee in the matter and arguing with a Moderator after having received a warning will lead to an additional warning.

6. Any attempt to use the site while a temporary ban is in place will result in an automatic permanent ban from the site. Actions triggering this result include registering again or using a changed IP address. Registering under someone else’s account and the use of a different email address will be monitored for adherence. Any other action or creative endeavor of subterfuge to avoid detection in an attempt to use the site while temporally banned will also result in a permanent removal from the site.

They are intelligent, educated, and competent in their own fields of practice. Most importantly, they are capable of making good and appropriate judgment calls.

2. Their mode of operation is guided by the expression, “fair but firm.” Their fairness comes from understanding our human limits, from knowing we all make mistakes, and the need for guidance with another allowable chance. Their firmness stems from a passion to protect our community members from those who would do us harm. However, let there be no doubt that in close calls they will always side more on the position of firmness than fairness to protect the community.

3. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of our members to bring the abuse of our rules to the attention of our Moderators. Please use the “report this post” feature to report posts that are clearly in violation of our rules. It is not the role of the member to police these matters themselves; let our Moderators handle these issues. Our Moderators cannot and will not review every post on the site or vouch for the validity or usefulness of any post. Special Note* on trolls and trolling:
Our site encounters two types of trolls both of which are prohibited on our site.

1. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic in an online community with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement.

2. Let there be no doubt there are those of the 1% who have the financial wherewithal to hire individuals to try to disrupt our site along with the use of other traditional and social media outlets. These hired individuals, who are more concerned with material reward rather than ethics, we call the 1% Trolls. This type of person will come to our site to spout some anti-99% rhetoric, or in some cases use other underhanded means to disrupt our site on behalf of the 1%.
Trolls of both types are undesirable individuals who are immediately and permanently banned from the site as soon as they are identified.
Determining who is a troll is a subjective decision. It usually involves a pattern of such posting or it can just be one especially egregious post. Both types will not go unnoticed. However, it is easy to mistake legitimate users who are merely presenting contrary ideas to our community in an intelligent and thoughtful manner from those who are truly trolls. Please, in all cases report trolling to a Moderator per our protocol but do not handle these matters yourself.

5. SEVEN ORGANIZATIONAL PRINCIPLES

The following principles are in place to help guide the community members in their discussions, decision making, and actions:

1. We are a non-violent and law-abiding community of individuals who believe in reducing the level of economic inequality for all. This is our primary mission. Towards this end, we have a firm conviction the collective wisdom and power of the community through the principles of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding can overcome the authority of the 1% to reduce economic inequality. Anyone with similar beliefs is welcome to join us.

2. “Doing good in the world” is accomplished by reducing economic inequality and related constructs. This brings about a positive difference in the lives of others. By having each individual participate and vote his or her conscience to bring about a collective wisdom of the crowd, we create more favorable opportunities for everyone.
Reducing economic inequality helps heal and affirm the beneficial social fabric of our entire society. This ushers in new found freedoms for the many, not just the privileged few. Achieving these goals is accomplished by the power of each individual who participates, and with the power of others, brings about a collective force for change. We favor organizational action as a force for change over protest to deliver our message.
Our most important action is the development and implementation of a new form of company which, in and of itself, exemplifies these ideas for use by our community. We support the overall platform of Todays99percent.com and the corporate vision of Today’s 99% Inc. in achieving these goals.

3. We are a for-profit organization. However, we may engage, and participate with, charitable and not-for-profit groups to generate income and benefits for our organization. Our ability to do good in the world and to further our goals will be determined to a large extent by the growth and economic advantage we have as an organization. We believe in a profit-oriented model with our ability to do good being an extension of our profitability.
After a discussion of our members and with the approval of the corporate management team, we may engage in any business enterprise or project to earn revenue or benefits for our company.

4. We, as an economic and income equality community, do have opinions on political groups and other related matters to the extent they limit us from our equality goals. We may engage and participate with political groups to generate income and benefits for our organization or to further our cause.
We invite all people regardless of their affiliation including: Republicans, Democrats, Independents, or others to join us.
After a discussion of our members and with the approval of the corporate management team, our members may lobby or influence others on our behalf to improve our standing as we see fit. This includes the establishment of a political process.
5. We, as an economic and income equality community, do have opinions on religious groups and other related matters to the extent they limit us from our equality goals. We may engage and participate with religious groups to generate income and benefits for our organization or to further our cause.

All faiths, (and those without an established faith such as Atheists) are welcome to join us.

6. We, as an economic and income equality community, do have opinions on other economic structures and related matters to the extent they limit us from our equality goals. We may engage and participate with other economic organizations to generate income and benefits for our organization or to further our cause.
Economic organizations including socialists, collectivists, cooperatives and others are welcome to join and work with us towards a common goal.
Our actions are focused on reducing economic inequality through our company by democratizing and repairing the shortcomings of capitalism and our current political system. This is doing good in the world so the system works for everyone.

7. At no time will our organization violate its integrity by allowing outside financial, political, or social considerations, either directly or indirectly, to sway the outcomes of our platform. We may, however, accept payment for our services as long as no “quid pro quo” is involved.
We can participate in any action as long as such an action does not violate any of our aforementioned organizational principles, is legal, and shows a viable and profitable source of net income or benefits for our organization.
